ZZ Top links The little ol' band from Texas, ZZ Top, took the muddy Mississippi blues of John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters and Robert Johnson, melded with the fire of Jimi Hendrix, and added its own ribald lyrics and juke joint grooves to create a sound all their own. They have succeeded on the strength of radio-friendly hits in the '70s & '80s, and have been one of the few rock acts in existence prior to the advent of MTV to use the video medium to its fullest potential.
