The Germs were formed in 1977, consisting of Darby Crash, Pat Smear, Lorna Doom, and Don Bolles. The Germs collaborated on a single studio album entitled GI, which was critically acclaimed as one of the first hardcore punk records from Los Angeles. The band continued to work, however, dissention among the band members and chronic drug use eventually tore them apart. In 1980 the band reunited for one last show, however, four days later Darby Crash committed suicide. This fatal blow tragically marked an end for the band.
